Dear Reader, We all have people we care about in our lives, and when they are in trouble, or just seem to be, it can be hard to figure out what to do. Intervene. Give them their space and hope for the best. Simply let them know we are there for them. Or utilize some combination of all of the above. Sara Anderson is a widow, who’s been through a pretty rough year. But she has good stuff happening in her life, too. She has a six month old son, Charley, whom she adores. And volunteer work as a veterinarian providing medical care for service dogs. Matt McCabe is an ex-soldier and current Laramie County rancher, who is spending more and more time alone. Sara needs his help, temporarily caring for Champ, a puppy in service dog training. When he refuses her, she begins to worry. This isn’t the Matt she knew in high school, who was fun-loving and gallant to the core. The Matt she had always secretly lusted after, but never dared to pursue. Matt thinks Sara has changed, too. She’s got a wall up around her heart that leads him to believe the rumors about trouble in her marriage, before her husband’s death, are true. He wants to help her, as much as she wants to help him, yet neither are willing to divulge their own secrets. And without honesty and trust, while there can be passion, there can be no real, long-lasting, heartfelt love. Will Matt and Sara find their happily ever after? There’s only one way to find out! Happy reading! Read an EXCERPT of His Baby Bargain and check out the other books in the TEXAS LEGENDS: THE MCCABES series. Dear Reader, This month marks a big change for me. There’s sad news. Harlequin has stopped publishing American Romance and Western Romance, the beloved lines that have been my publishing home for many years. The wonderful news? I have been invited to join the Harlequin Special Edition team. From here on out, you will be able to find all my stories about the beloved McCabe clan, and the other Texas families, such as the Lockharts and the Carrigans, under the fabulous Special Edition banner. If you’ve never read one of my stories set in the utopian West Texas community of Laramie County, and aren’t sure where to start, I invite you to check out my website. There, you will find a series guide, and a McCabe family tree, as well as excerpts from every book, and links to my Facebook and Twitter pages. You can also read a little about me, as a person and a writer, and sample some of my recipes. If, on the other hand, you’ve read my American and Western stories for years, and worry it just won’t be the same—Fear not. I guarantee that the Special Edition Cathy Gillen Thacker books to come will all have the same trademark romance, humor, heart, and sense of family and community, because there is just no way I can write a love story any other way. And what is life, without a lot of love? Happy reading! Read an EXCERPT of The Texas Cowboy's Quadruplets and check out the other books in the TEXAS LEGENDS: THE MCCABES series. Dear Reader, Preschool teacher Kelly Shackleford doesn’t trust ‘the system’ that both rescued her and wrecked utter havoc on her childhood. Sheriff’s deputy Dan McCabe knows that rules and regulations not only help keep us safe, they bring order to a life that could otherwise be chaotic. So when Dan asks her out, Kelly says No. Repeatedly. Until she needs his help. Then she has no choice but to go to him. And he, being the Texas gentleman that he is, feels honor-bound to give her the assistance she requests. Neither expect how fierce and fast the sparks between them will fly. Or how much her three year old triplets will adore him. Dan is the perfect daddy. Together, they make a great team, and create the ‘complete family’ she’s always yearned for. Until they are put to the test and must decide whether the rules that govern his life, can also govern hers… I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed writing it. And on a personal note, I want to add, I have been writing for Harlequin American/Western romance since the very first year it was published. I also have a title in this, American/Western Romance’s, very last month. As sad as I am to see the romance line end, I am happy that I will still be published by Harlequin, in the Special Edition line. So, hope to see you there! Dear Reader, Christmas is a time of miracles, when impossible wishes get granted, and even the most elusive love is given and received. Nora Caldwell learned heart-wrenching sacrifice as a child. She is determined her only son will not suffer the same lack of parental devotion. Zane Lockhart is a Special Forces soldier who had everything, growing up. Except a purpose. He found that serving his country. Nora and Zane can’t deny their attraction for each other, any more than they can seem to make their on-again, off-again relationship work. Duty and honor keep getting in the way. Zane wants to put their country first. Nora believes family should surpass all. It takes Nora’s adorable three month old baby Liam and the wise residents of Laramie Gardens Home For Seniors to match-make some sense into these two, and give them the happily-ever-after kind of Christmas they deserve! I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. Happy holidays! Dear Reader, We’ve all done it. Made detailed plans, only to see them go hopelessly awry. We’ve also done the opposite. Made a Grand Plan with absolutely no details, intending to get by on the fly. Only to have that implode, too. So where is the happy medium? Sage Lockhart’s romantic dreams have fallen apart. She still wants to have a child. But this time she is not taking any chances. She’s going into the situation with a clear-eyed vision and a proposal. Nick Monroe has always pushed hard and fast for what he wants. That hasn’t worked out for him, either. Now, he’s trying to learn to be patient. To accept what can be given to him, without ruining everything by ambitiously wanting more. So, when Nick and Sage decide to have a child together, they set the boundaries. No pressure, no expectations, and definitely no romance! They will remain lovers and friends, take each day as it comes, and share the baby they are now happily expecting. Until marriage becomes unexpectedly necessary. Then, all bets are off. And both are forced to figure out exactly what they want, all over again…. Happy reading! Dear Reader, We all have the capacity to forgive, but sometimes finding the compassion within us to do so can be tough. Such is the case for Wyatt Lockhart. He and Adelaide Smythe go way back, to a time when they were very close. {Too close, their parents said.} And many years after when, for reasons known only to the two of them, they barely spoke. A chance meeting reminded them of the incredible chemistry they once had. Unfortunately, it also highlighted the continuing differences between them. Throw in a little troublemaking by one of Adelaide’s family members, and it seemed like Wyatt and Adelaide were destined to be on the outs with each other for life. Had Wyatt not found himself responsible for the care of Adelaide’s seven week old twins. Suddenly, Adelaide and Wyatt had two very good reasons to find a way to peacefully cohabit and become a real team. The question is, will a temporary liaison for the sake of the kids turn into a long lasting love? Only time will tell… Happy Reading, Read an EXCERPT of The Texas Valentine Twins and check out the other books in the TEXAS LEGACIES: THE LOCKHARTS series. Dear Reader, Christmas is all about giving, and showing the people we love how deeply we care. But how much is too much? When is a wish simply out of bounds? This is a question that must be answered by parents and spouses everywhere. Molly Griffith grew up in modest circumstances and was orphaned at 18. A single mother, she is determined to give her son everything she missed, growing up. For her, money equals security. Ambition and hard work equal success. Chance Lockhart grew up wealthy, and hated the sacrifices made on behalf of his mother’s social accomplishments and his dad’s spectacular career. Receiving nothing but a broken down ranch as his inheritance freed him to be his own man, and make his own money, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Molly and Chance have nothing in common, except an inordinate ability to annoy each other. Until Molly’s three year old son decides he wants a live baby bull for Christmas, and only the esteemed Cowboy Chance can convince him otherwise….! Chance hates to quash or edit anyone else’s dreams. Nor does he want to see the cute little tyke disappointed on Christmas morning. So he and Molly reluctantly join forces in search of a solution, and in the process find so much else! Merry Christmas! |
